With Robert Hahn as Hahn&CuestaWolf
Goethe Institute Denmark
During the 3daysofdesign
10. - 12.06.2026
We came up with the idea for an exhibition that focuses on an everyday object that is often overlooked, is quite unassuming and does not necessarily require any special design – the doorstop.
We asked a number of young designers to work with this particular object as a way of highlighting the themes and issues that concern young designers today.
We collaborated with the Goethe Institute of Denmark and are happy to show the results in Copenhagen from
10. - 12.06.2026.

29. - 30.10.2025
We were invited by Guest Professor Henrik Löser and Artistic Associate Isabell Bilfinger Unzueta to conduct a two-day workshop with the students.
Given the short timeframe, we decided on a hands-on approach.
We began by observing staircases as transit spaces. Although they are usually places of movement, some stairs offer a particular atmosphere — even the potential to become places of rest or contemplation.
Within a short time, the students developed small interventions for different stair situations, carefully considering the specific location, the flow of movement, and the architectural conditions.

We were invited by Justus Hilfenhaus to show our AFC Chair in a small exhibition. The focus was on designs that have not yet gone into production. Works by Ineke Hans, Justus Hilfenhaus, Studio OE, Mark Braun, Mathias Hahn, GeckelerMichels, Silvio Rebholz, Josua Roters and others were also presented.
“Bitte nicht hinsetzen”
Group exhibition / Japanisches Palais / Dresden
In the exhibition bitte nicht hinsetzen at the Japanisches Palais Dresden I showed two chairs. One was designed with Robert Hahn as Hahn&CuestaWolf, the other together with Joel Seele.
Shown alongside works by Klemens Schillinger, Studio OE, Frederik Paulsen, Jannis Zell and others, the exhibition explored different aspects of sitting. It was curated by HerbstFreitag and Yardshed Office.

The project focuses on seating furniture that avoids the use of foam, instead exploring alternative materials and techniques. Key aspects include sustainability, avoiding material mixes, recyclability, and reducing environmental impact. Students are asked to bring together their previously acquired skills to develop solutions based on a solid concept, resulting in designs that are both functional and aesthetically distinctive.

Woodpotentials at Salone Satellite during the Salone del Mobile / Milano (IT)
We highlighted the different potentials of wood as high tech material. In different objects we showed the different faces of wood.

A washed-up shipping container becomes the narrative starting point: students design its envelope at 1:20 scale, considering ecological and economic aspects, and transform its 10 m³ interior at 1:1 scale into a space for living, sleeping, cooking, and personal care. The envelope is developed individually, the interior in pairs. The project consolidates prior skills and challenges students to create independent, constructive, and design-driven solutions.

Let there be light! The winter semester arrives hand in hand with the darkest stretch of the year. As the days grow shorter, sunlight fades and retreats, leaving us to rely ever more on artificial light to carry us through our daily lives. A compelling reason, then, to turn our attention—and our curiosity—fully toward the subject of light.

Wood plays a key role as a CO2 store in tackling the climate crisis, absorbing carbon during growth and retaining it until decay or combustion. This is driving wood's growing use in architecture and furniture.
Traditional wood-based panels solved the swelling and shrinkage issues of solid wood and allowed whole trees—including branches and stumps—plus reclaimed wood to be used, creating a lasting material cycle. Their one drawback: binders of petrochemical origin.
Fundermax has now developed a process that activates the lignin naturally present in wood as a binder, using only water and heat—making the material 100% natural. Currently used only in construction, it comes in just 8 mm thickness, yet outperforms 19 mm standard panels in bending stiffness and pull-out strength. It can also be thermoformed when heated.
This material—the Funderplan panel—is the starting point.

For this exhibition I contributed a simple chair as a reference to the design ethos of Erich Dieckmann. His Bauhaus approach to construction and joinery inspired me to develop a three-legged chair that addresses current questions in furniture design. It is economical in material, stackable, and easy to store.
I contributed with In a special installation curated and designed by Stephan Schulz and Margrit Jäschke I contributed with a small collection of wall hooks.

Due to the Corona Pandemic, we were not able to show our diploma during a regular graduation show, organised by our university. I teamed up with fellow designers and organised our own graduation show. We designed everything by ourselves and also had to come up with special visiting and hygene regulations to make this possible.
